One thing that inspires me as a meteorologist is the simple beauty of weather and atmospheric motion. Sometimes lost in all the equations, theory, and weather maps is the natural elegance of atmospheric fluid flow, unbound by “scales of motion”, “parameterizations”, and the “conceptual models” humans often employ to try and explain the seemingly complex nature of weather. In reality, weather is perfect and without flaw, and sometimes we just need to sit back and admire the artistic and magnificent splendor of the natural world. Perhaps it is a reminder to us all that the simple things in life are the most important.
